Although most Armenians living in Lebanon today are concentrated in East Beirut and neighboring Bourj Hammoud, perhaps the oldest existing Armenian street food spot in the city, Ichkhanian Bakery, is located in West Beirut. This is a place that first opened its doors in 1946, and serves a fusion of Armenian and Lebanese dishes that reflect the two peoples’ shared history.

I have discovered amazing Tahinov Hats, which I believe are the best I've had to date and maybe the country's finest. [...] An amazing feeling under the teeth, sweetness and equilibrated flavors, which make you breathe the Armenian spirit. The best part about those Tahinov Hats is that they're great the day after and the day after that, as if they were prepared just a minute ago. I urge you to try them: Tahinov Hats from Ichkhanian Bakery, Zokak el Blat.

Ichkhanian Bakery isn’t just any bakery it’s one of Beirut’s oldest Armenian gems, first opened back in 1946 and still run by the Ichkhanian family today. Tucked away in Zokak El Blatt , it’s easy to miss but unforgettable once you step inside. I went in thinking I’d grab a quick bite, and somehow walked out with half the bakery. Worth it? Absolutely.
